Pahalgam terror attack LIVE: Home Ministry asks several States to conduct mock drills on May 7 for civil defence

In phone talks with PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin says perpetrators of Pahalgam terror attack and their supporters must be brought to justice

MHA has asked several states to conduct mock drills for effective civil defence on 7th May. The measures to be taken during the drill include operationalisation of air raid warning sirens, updation of evacuation plan & its rehearsal and training of civilians on civil defence aspects, government sources said.

The Indian Army on Monday (May 5, 2025) said that multiple locations Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) have come under small arms fire from the Pakistani Army. 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hosted his Japanese counterpart Gen Nakatani for wide-ranging talks touching upon the scourge of terrorism and ways to expand bilateral defence ties in the wake of China’s military posturing in the Indo-Pacific.

In phone talks with PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin says perpetrators of Pahalgam terror attack and their supporters must be brought to justice. Mr. Putin conveys full support to India’s fight against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s ambassador in Moscow has sought Russia’s help in des-escalating the crisis with New Delhi caused in the aftermath of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed.
